What is Reconstructive Surgery?

Reconstructive surgery is to treat aesthetically or functionally damaged body structures through congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, cancer, tumors or disease. It is usually done to improve function and capacity, but can also be done to achieve a more conventional appearance of the structure affected.

1. Developmental abnormalities: – Developmental defects use a wide variety of reconstructive procedures, plastic surgeons patch holes, and repair damage mainly by tissue transfer from one part of the body to another.

2. Birth Defects: – Child with cleft lip or cleft palate will likely benefit most from reconstructive plastic surgery procedures and kept low-risk and manageable by staggered sessions over weeks or months with a thorough birth defect planning and diagnosis.

3. Trauma: – In trauma, plastic and reconstructive surgeries, especially when tissue is lost, with a multidisciplinary approach, plays a key function in the reconstruction of the head and neck, limbs and scrotum.

4. Tumors and disease: – Reconstructive surgery is all about people being repaired and function restored. It is used to restore and reshape body structures caused by birth defects, malformations of growth, damage and injuries, infections, tumors, and diseased conditions.

What is Cosmetic Surgery?

Cosmetic Surgery in India is a unique medical discipline that focuses on surgery and medical techniques on the improvement of appearance. Cosmetic operation on all the areas of head, neck, and body can be performed.

1. Liposuction: – Liposuction is a surgical procedure that uses suction methods to remove fat from different areas of the body, such as the breast, chest, thighs, arms or back. These areas also come to shape liposuction. Other liposuction names include lipoplasty as well as body contouring.

2. Tummy Tuck: – This surgery flattens the abdomen by taking away additional fat and skin and tighten your abdominal wall muscles. It isn’t like liposuction, but a tummy tuck can also be combined with liposuction.

3. Laser Hair Removal: – Laser Hair Removal is one of the most common cosmetic methods all over the world. The light it takes into hair follicles is highly concentrated. The pigment absorbs light in the follicles, this kills the hairs.

4. Injectable Fillers: – It is an injected soft tissue filler that can be filled with facial wrinkles, provides face volume and increases face characteristics at different depths: restoring the appearance of the filler. The majority of wrinkles are temporary because they are absorbed by the body eventually.

5. Facial Surgeries: – Facial surgeries include facelift, brow lift, and cheek lift.

a. Facelift: – Facelift surgery is generally performed as an outpatient procedure. Local anesthetics and sedatives or general anesthesia may be involved.

b. Brow lift: – A brow lift is a cosmetic procedure for raising the brows, also known as a forehead lift or front rejuvenation.

c. Cheek lift: – An incision is a minimally invasive procedure and can usually be made in the lower eyelid, in the high gum areas or in the hairline by inserting the incisions.

When does Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery Overlap?

Reconstructive surgery in India overlaps with cosmetic surgery as well, as they follow many of the same basic surgical concepts. Depending on the type of plastic surgery performed, maximizing the result of cosmetic treatment should always be the end goal.

1. Mastectomy: – This includes the surgeon removing a tumor and the surrounding tissue, but generally leaving the breasts intact. Skin sparing mastectomy, this newer procedure includes the preservation of the skin of the breast and the reconstruction of a more natural look.

2. Rhinoplasty: – The wounds inside or below the nostrils will be covered with dissolvable stitches. After a rhinoplasty reduction or raise, dissolvable stitches will close the cuts inside or between nostrils.

3. Otoplasty: – Ear pinning is one form of otoplasty surgery, which is visible sections of the ear on the outside. Otoplasty can reconstruct absent, malfunctioning or damaged ears or reduce the size of large ears.

4. Skin graft: – Cosmetic surgery and reconstructive skin graft is one of the most important techniques. A composite graft is a small, cartilage or other fabric-containing plastic graft.

5. Blepharoplasty: – Blepharoplasty is a procedure that removes, redrew or sculpts the skin of the eyelid, the muscle of the orbicularis and the orbital fat, rejuvenates the appearance of the patient and corrects any functional defects.

6. Z-plasty (for webbed fingers or toes): – This is a digital malformation in which adjacent fingers/ toes are webbed because they do not separate during the development of the limbs.

Reconstructive surgery in India will restore the function and normal appearance of birth defects, trauma and medical conditions, including cancer and proper deformities. Cosmetic surgery in India is done to improve the overall appearance of cosmetics by reshaping and modifying human anatomy to make it look more appealing.

Jaiswal weighs 190 kg and is one of the heaviest persons of Ajmer who underwent surgery to lose his weight. Saturday was the first day he spent in his home after returning from the private hospital in Jaipur where he has undergone the surgery. “The doctors told me that my weight will be reduced significantly within six to eight months,” Jaiswal said. Jaiswal works at a private college as a kitchen storekeeper.

His obesity had impacted him from socializing. “I actually felt bad about my weight. I began to stop attending weddings with relatives and other such events. My college administration has helped me in having the surgery done financially,” Jaiswal said. Jaiswal’s inactive lifestyle has changed his life totally in 16 years. Whatever the weight loss journey one takes, a long-term, positive shift can only be introduced in the implementation of balanced diet and lifestyle interventions allows life-long changes.

In the medical center, he came with complications such as severe gastritis, articular pain, pedal edema, swelling of leg leading to leg ulcers, obesity, sleep apnea syndrome, low back pain and failure to perform his routine work normally. Dr. Ajay Sharma, gastrointestinal and laparoscopic Bariatric Surgeon in India, said that he had complications from morbid obesity in the form of a serious gastroesophageal reflux disorder.

This is one of the heaviest patients in Jaipur until now. We performed a mini Gastric Bypass Surgery in India and it is expected that its weight will drop by 50 kg in 6 months so it would be about 150 kg at the end of six months, and by 2 years it would be about 100-125 kg, said Dr. Ajay Sharma.

Her weight was started pilling with growing medical problems. For years, she had looked up and down. Diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure diagnosed Jannat took a handful of pills every day. There are many options, including medical endoscopic and surgical weight losses. But any weight loss techniques only work if you maintain a healthy diet and practice routine after your weight loss is achieved. The minimum recommended workout is at least 30 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise, five days a week, while a healthy diet is high-protein, low-carb, and fiber.

Mommy Makeover Immediately After Delivery: The Way to Bounce Back to Life – 2026

It is perfectly normal to worry about how your body will look after being pregnant. The journey to motherhood may be a life-changing rollercoaster trip of emotions and physical adjustments, but it may additionally be a worthwhile experience. Today, women don’t have any time to watch for a belly binder to begin working although Angelina Jolie herself encouraged it. Some give it a year, a few three months, however, a few even insist on cosmetic surgery immediately after delivery despite the clinical perils. Women are recommended to wait for at least six months after weaning for mommy makeover surgery.

In the course of pregnancy and after birth, a mother’s body will obviously be placed under lots of stress, and even the fittest and a healthy female can experience undesirable adjustments to their look. the glow of motherhood and the satisfaction of bringing up a child can be tinged with a touch of disappointment, as a woman can also find she is much less confident along with her look. Some of the adjustments a woman can also experience are due to hormonal adjustments, which can cause an accelerated urge for food and weight gain. Once the baby is born, women may also find that her body holds onto the extra fats gained while pregnant in addition to the excess skin as a result of the stretching of the abdominal wall. This will leave the stomach feeling tender and without muscle definition. At the same time as a few loose skins will regain its elasticity, many women struggle to get back their pre-being pregnant shape, in particular when they have new child takes precedence over weight loss.

Liffy Thomas 28 years old Kochi resident after her second child through C -Section stayed back at the operating table at apollo hospitals in Chennai for a tummy tuck. She took out additional hours getting sewen uptight, excising excess fat and skin. While planning her delivery she included mini tummy tuck procedure along as she found almost impossible to return to her pre-pregnancy body after her first child.

According to Dr. V Purushothaman, a plastic surgeon with Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, “Women are mostly advised to wait at least 6 months after they stop breastfeeding for mummy makeover surgery. As it’s not advisable but when a woman is insistent, being aware of the risks, surgeons do concede if all the parameters are stable.”  Contrary to famous belief, a mommy makeover cannot snap patients back to their pre-child selves mere weeks or months after giving birth. Attempting to do the aforementioned genuinely might now not be safe. You have to keep in mind that each being pregnant and childbirth placed big pressure on your body, so having surgery soon after would be dangerous. Any respectable plastic doctor will require you to wait at least six months after giving birth before having an invasive plastic surgical procedure.  A tummy tuck is the only way to address the issue of damaged stomach muscular tissues. No amount of exercise will strengthen them sufficient to make them function normally. Instead, the patient desires a healthcare professional to stitch together the torn tissue between the sections of her abdominal muscle so that the area can heal nicely.

Weightlifter teenager girl reduced weight by Bariatric Surgery – 2026

With an increasing number of obese patients, weight loss surgeries are performed more often these days in India. A new link-up between the BMC and leading private physicians helped Borivali teenager who was suffering from genetic obesity to undergo Bariatric Surgery at a highly subsidized rate at the LTMG hospital in Sion last week.

Annie Jaison, a class 12th commerce student, carries a rare mutation of the MC4R gene that has resulted in a weight gain though she is a weightlifter that has won medals at the state level. “We started her weightlifting since she was in class 8th due to weight gain, but that didn’t help,” said her father Jaison, a railway employee who is a weightlifter at the national level.

Doctors told the family that Bariatric Surgery was the only option but it cost – Rs 4 lakh plus- was a problem at private hospitals. Jaison’s employer, the railways, was able to reimburse operations carried out at public hospitals. After consultation with bariatric surgeon Dr. Sanjay Borude about two months ago, who had just become a professor emeritus at Sion Hospital, then the way opened. The operation was performed for approximately Rs. 1.5 lakh.

While Annie, 16, is very young, we knew she would continue to gain weight because of the genetic mutation and the best option will be bariatric surgery, said Dr. Borude, who performed surgery on September 18th. To reduce the size of her stomach, he undertook an extensive Gastric Bypass surgery. “The surgical changes would ensure healthy hormonal changes in her body, which will improve metabolism,” he added.

Broude said Annie would lose weight slowly over the coming year. “We set the bar to 60 kg.” Annie, who won a silver medal last November at a state-level school tournament, is hopeful. “I feel good,” she said.

Dr. Ramesh Bharmal, director of medical education at BMC- run hospitals, said Borude, BMC has been associated with a doctor like cancer surgeon Dr. Sultan Pradhan, gastroenterologist Dr. Amit Maydeo, bariatric surgeon Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala and spinal surgeon Dr. Mihir Bapat. “Each of them was made an emeritus professor and will soon begin work in BMC hospitals,” Dr. Bharmal said. Doctors will not charge fees and bring their own equipment to ensure that the best care is provided to poor patients. Such kind of change will surely benefit the poor and needy people who can’t afford treatment in private hospitals.
